Is it Time to Start Watching Dragon Ball Super Subs? Light Spoilers

The announcement came that there would finally be new Dragon Ball anime material coming in 2015, and there was much rejoicing.  The show debuted in Japan in July of 2015 and has released 97 episodes at this time, what a great time to be a Dragon Ball fan new or old.  But here’s the catch, only 23 episodes are currently available in English.  And before you say, “it takes time to coordinate with Japan, get the rights, redub the episodes in English, etc”, let me say that I do realize that and honestly appreciate the speed at which these episodes have come out.  I believe most of DBZ had a 6+ year gap from Japan to America.

I think the real problem lies in the fact that the 23 episodes we have at that point are just rehashing and expanding on the 2 newly released movies we already have (Battle of Gods and Resurrection F) before getting into new content.  We actually have to get to episode 28 before we get a total original moment.  And if you’re like me and have even the slightest idea of what those moments are you know they’re going to a parallel universe, having a tournament with those inhabitants and meeting a dark/evil version of Goku.  I for one can’t wait to see some of these events play out in full and everyday bemoan the fact that the English dubs are so far behind.

I grew up with the American voice cast and anytime I see clips of DBZ in Japanese it seems so “off”.  So what’s a guy to do?  Try to ignore everything Dragon Ball related online for the next few years or bite the bullet and watch the subtitled version now?

How many of you watch the subs?
