Preacher Season 2 Starts with a Bang

A foreskin discussion, a car chase, “Come on Eileen” and the Saint of Killers vs the police all before the titles!  While the end of season 1 didn’t exactly live up to the build up for me, the premier of season 2 seems to have found a better grove.  More jokes, more gore and more plain crazy.  I won’t spoil anything big for those of you who haven’t seen it yet but these first 2 episodes of Preacher look to be just what I was looking for.

The episode picks up where season 1 left off, ROAD TRIP!  As I watched the season 1 finale I thought to myself “OK, now we’re getting to where the book started”.  Then I realized that this is a whole other animal from the book and certain characters and situations are just different in this version (much like AMC’s Walking Dead) and I shouldn’t assume to know what will happen in season 2.  And boy was that prediction right!  There were a few nods to both season 1 as well as some easter eggs for the comic fans among the absolutely insane opener.  But in NO way was it similar to the first few issues of the comic series.

These 2 episodes are predominantly about the preliminary search for God, which they started in the last scenes of season 1, and staying one step ahead of the Saint of Killers.  The Saint is absolutely Bad Ass, with a revolver capable of knocking fist sized holes in things and an interesting back story laid out in season 1.  As the episodes play out we see Jesse used the word on several comical occasions, a drug fueled Cassidy montage, a hint of  Tulip’s backstory, and how to get the taste of blood out of your mouth.  BTW, it’s Tabasco and Yoo-Hoo.

All in all a great start to the second season.  MV5BZWE3ZTEwZmYtNjRkNy00M2E2LTlhOWQtNTNjYjZiNTdkMjgzXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjEwNTM2Mzc@._V1_UY1200_CR90,0,630,1200_AL_
